Intern, Project Engineering (4 Months)

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Support a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver engineering work from design through construction to acceptance, ensuring completion within cost and schedule requirements.
  • Apply project management approaches to pre-production and production support activities, including work by major subcontractors, to ensure efficient delivery of engineering outputs.
  • Develop tools and processes to solve technical problems supporting shipbuilding milestones for the Joint Support Ships (JSS) Project Engineering Team.
  • Identify inefficiencies and collaborate with supervisors to determine potential solutions.
  • Drive timely closure of technical issues to meet or exceed engineering deliverables and stakeholder commitments.
  • Apply engineering maturity management culture and lifecycle management aligned with project objectives.
  • Ensure maturity targets are agreed upon with key stakeholders.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Enrollment in 2nd or 3rd year of Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Integrated Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Systems Engineering degree program.
  • Passion for shipbuilding and interest in applying engineering concepts in a production environment.
  • Comfortable working in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Self-starter with motivated curiosity and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to apply engineering skills using analytical tools and methods.
  • Explorer mindset, thriving on novel challenges.
  • Strong technical skills including reading and interpreting technical specifications and drawings.
  • Excellent digital literacy with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage time effectively.
  • Good organizational skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time commitment Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Hourly rate of $28.00.
