TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE

POSITION: Technical / Sales Representative

Reports to: Sales Manager

Pay Type: Salary / Exempt

Pay Rate: TBD / Based on Experience

JOB SUMMARY:

Sales: responsible for promoting the products and services offered by Ingram Readymix, Inc. for the specific purpose of maximizing profitability and building long-term customer relations as directed. This includes presenting a positive, professional Company image at all times, handling all sales responsibilities for the designated, geographic area and managing any other assigned specific accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (not all inclusive-additions and changes to be expected)

  • Extensive knowledge of your entire, geographic sales area.
  • Call customers/potential customers regularly; face-to-face is the preferred method.
  • Continuous follow up.
  • Be aware of all ongoing and upcoming work.
  • Know the contractors and their subcontractors.
  • Know all that can be obtained about the competition.
  • Evaluate job-site conditions for delivery.
  • Quote prices based on your Price Sheet - any variance from that must be approved by

the Sales Manager.

  • Be present during product delivery as necessity dictates to help guide in trucks, provide

communication with the plant on service and quality issues, help to maintain good truck

efficiency, provide technical support (testing) and maintain good customer relations. First

jobs of the day are generally critical.

  • Assist as needed with schedule coordination and gaining pertinent information. This

could mean checking with customers to make sure they will be ready for delivery or

verifying jobsite conditions.

  • Review orders at ends of day for use of value-added products and identifying

opportunities.

  • Provide information to customers on new and current products, pricing, ordering,

scheduling, account status, etc.

  • Provide basic technical concrete knowledge.
  • Complete understating of primary products, associated and extra products, their function

and the way they are priced and sold.

  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Supply customers with refreshments and entertain as directed and upon approval and

within budget.

  • Interact with your supervisor daily.
  • Stay in close communication with Area Managers, plant personnel and customer service.
  • Work closely with customer service, Area Managers, plant personnel to promote &

accurately deliver value-added products.

  • Encourage prompt payment from the customer(s) and work closely with the Credit

Department in aiding with collections.

  • Maintain your company vehicle as directed.
  • Be knowledgeable of the Company, products, systems, etc.
  • Conduct yourself with the utmost integrity and business ethics.
  • Report all quality and/or testing issues immediately to the Quality Control Department.
  • Promote value-added products.
  • Increase customer base.
  • Participate in associations (i.e. Home Builders Associations, AGC, etc.) as directed
  • Handle customer complaints.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or as necessary.

SALES REPRESENTATIVE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I Certification is mandatory and maintaining this certification is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish).
  • Previous knowledge of concrete operations.
  • Working knowledge of ACI, ASTM Standards, and TxDOT specifications.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills including Word and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills with solid problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Sound judgment with the ability to analyze and formulate solutions.
  • Be familiar with various software programs, the use of personal computers and general

office equipment.

  • Availability as business and responsibilities dictate.
  • Valid Drivers License.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Accountable to the Sales Manager for all phases of job duties. Establish and maintain professional relationships with employees to achieve the objectives of Ingram Readymix, Inc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, handle, reach, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and operate a motor vehicle. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, hear and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The incumbent is occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
