Spring Internships – Television Academy

The Television Academy Foundation is accepting applications for its Spring Internships program, placing Los Angeles area college students at working television agencies, studios, and production companies across the industry. These internships embed students directly inside active entertainment workflows, covering departments from talent representation and scripted development to editing, with each placement tied to a specific production discipline and real daily output. This program suits students who want hands-on exposure to episodic television production before they graduate, not simulated classroom projects.

About the Role

The Television Academy Foundation Spring Internships run from February 1 through April 30, 2027, placing interns at host companies including agencies such as UTA and Abrams Artists Agency, scripted development shops like FX and Valhalla Entertainment, and other television production entities across Los Angeles. Interns work part-time across 13 consecutive weeks, with 12 weeks at 25 hours and one week at 20 hours, and placements may be in-person, hybrid, or remote depending on the host company. Each intern is matched to a specific department category, meaning your day-to-day mirrors what an entry-level professional in that discipline actually does.

Key Responsibilities

  • Agency interns shadow working talent agents handling representation for actors, directors, writers, producers, and cinematographers across television and film production.
  • Development interns review literary materials and participate in evaluating scripted programming and movies for television as part of the pre-production workflow.
  • Scripted development interns assist in the preparation of pitch decks and script notes as content moves from idea stage toward a production green light.
  • Agency track interns manage high-volume phone communication and administrative responsibilities central to how a talent agency operates day to day.
  • Development interns observe the selection of writers and the oversight of script development across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • All interns attend meetings relevant to their department and contribute to the operational work of their host company for the duration of the internship.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in a college or university located in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, or Ventura County, or enrollment in a spring semester LA program.
  • Background in Creative Writing, Literature, Liberal Arts, Communications, Theatre Arts, or Business depending on your internship track.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite for development and administrative placements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suited to a professional television or agency environment.
  • A clear interest in pursuing a career in talent representation, scripted development, or another specific television production discipline.

Why This Role

The Television Academy Foundation has a long track record of placing student interns at credible, working companies inside the television industry, which is a meaningful distinction from internship programs built around errands and observation only. These Spring Internships are paid positions, and the host company list reflects real access to episodic television production, agency operations, and scripted development pipelines. The application deadline is September 18, 2025 at 5:00pm PT, with finalist notifications going out via email in late October.
