Who we need

Join the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) as a Security Guard! Full‑time, part‑time, and casual positions are available.

  • Monitor alarms, CCTV, and access control systems

  • Conduct patrols, handle crowd control, and respond to emergencies

  • Investigate incidents, improve security protocols, and ensure safety

How you will make an impact

  • Use cutting‑edge technology to ensure safety and security by monitoring and operating Alarms, CCTV, & Access Control systems.

  • Demonstrate expertise in control room duties (dispatching, access control, CCTV) to ensure efficient security operations.

  • Quickly respond to alarms and investigate incidents to maintain security integrity.

  • Patrol galleries and other areas to maintain a visible security presence.

  • Keep crowds under control during busy events.

  • Conduct thorough parcel and package inspections.

  • Conduct detailed investigations and report findings to inform security strategy.

  • Respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls professionally, working with emergency services as needed.

  • Take on other duties as assigned.


What you bring

Required:

  • Law Enforcement / Police Foundations Diploma

  • At least one (1) full year of previous security experience (or acceptable equivalent)

  • Valid Ontario Security Guards License in good standing (at time of application)

  • First Aid and CPR Level “C” with AED Certification (at time of application)

  • Valid Smart Serve certification (at time of hire)

  • Knowledge and experience using CCTV / Fire Panel / Access Control Systems

  • Knowledge of emergency and evacuation procedures

  • Ability to work independently or in a team

  • Conflict resolution skills

  • Physically fit – standing for extended periods

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • High degree of honesty and integrity

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email

  • Working knowledge of operational security procedures

  • Wear Green Patch safety footwear at all times while on duty

Assets:

  • Experience working in a hospitality setting
