Entry Level Social Media Lead

About the position

Knowt is hiring a Social Media Lead to own its high school social presence across TikTok and Instagram (@getknowt). The role focuses on creating daily content that students find fun, relatable, and useful, while driving views, engagement, and website subscriptions. The accounts are established, with 476K followers, and Knowt's study app is used by around 8 million high school students. The Social Media Lead will take content from idea to publication, including developing hooks and scripts, filming, editing, and writing captions. Content should reflect the realities of high school, AP courses, test preparation, finals, and college applications, and feel native to both the platforms and high school culture. The role also involves testing and iterating on content, aligning posts with the school calendar, tracking performance, and recommending what to scale, improve, or stop. The position is part-time or full-time depending on availability, with a minimum commitment of 10–15 hours per week. It is fully remote, offers base pay plus performance rewards tied to account growth, and works directly with the marketing team. The role reports to the Student Marketing Manager.

  • Ensure posts feel native to each platform and to high school culture.

  • Align content with the high school calendar.
  • Use platform trends, audience behavior, and performance data to develop content concepts.
  • Iterate on content daily based on performance.
  • Track and report content performance, with recommendations on what to scale, improve, or stop.
  • Measure performance using views, watch time, interactions such as saves, shares, and comments, and signups.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of what goes viral on TikTok and Instagram and why.
  • Firsthand understanding of high school, AP classes, the SAT and ACT, and the pressure associated with them.
  • Comfort taking a video from idea through posting.
  • A data-driven approach, making decisions based on view and conversion metrics rather than intuition alone.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience creating and growing short-form content, especially for edtech or exam-prep audiences.
  • Comfort on camera or experience scripting for creators.
  • Having taken AP exams, the SAT, or the ACT.

Benefits
